The Domaine Aubrespy is nestled in the hills overlooking the port of Sète and the pond, Etang de Thau, in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Located midway between Marseille and Perpignan on land exposed to the beating sun, sheltered from the strong winds blowing over the plateaux, the vineyard is characterised by its harsh yet favourable climate which  makes no concessions. It is situated in the paths of the Mistral and the Tramontane winds and is exposed to torrid sunshine and torrential downpours. The vines are planted in soil which is made up of limestone in some places and of pebbles in others.

Spread over more than six miles of magnificent countryside, the vines of the Domaine Aubrespy hug the hillsides or stand in the shallow valleys basked in the sun. Jacques Aubrespy has always been inspired by a desire to perpetuate the family tradition of wine-growing on this ancestral land that dates back three generations. He buys new land according to how he feels about it: “That plot there … I bought it because there is a superb almond tree just next to it.” For him, productivity is a forbidden term. He prefers to grow vines that are adapted to the soil. Furthermore, he has had the intelligence to seek help from experts who
are local personalities and who have solid experience in pruning and wine-making.

jacques aubrespyJacques Aubrespy brings understanding and love to his vines and his wines. He is convinced that it is not by using the magic of chemicals that you bring out the aroma of a wine. He links his wine-maker’s efficiency with his desire to give wine-lovers and collectors alike the richness of the aromas brought by the soil, the sun and the know-how of the Languedoc-Roussillon, a region recognised for its superior wine production. Some of the wines produced on the Domaine Aubrespy have been granted the “grès de Montpellier” label which reflects outstanding quality in terms of grape-growing, wine-making and taste.

A visit to the Domaine bears testimony that devotion to quality has paid off.
